ADHESIVES FOR ABRASIVE BELTS

DESCRIPTION

DESCURING® is an elastic polyurethane adhesive with a medium rate of crystallization and outstanding adhesion to numerous materials.

APPLICATIONS

DESCURING adhesives are specifically produced for splicing abrasive belts and may be used as a general adhesive for plastics, leather, rubber, fabrics, wood, metal, paper and other materials. DESCURING adhesives are used in abrasive belt manufacturing by applying adhesive to the belt ends, forming an overlap and bonding using heat and pressure.

USE WITH CROSSLINKING AGENT

DESCURING adhesives may lose some of their strength at elevated temperatures. It is therefore advisable to use Descuring® TR268 or Desmodur® RE/RFE as a crosslinking agent. In such cases one should add 8-12% by weight of agent, immediately before the adhesive is used. To increase the initial strength of the bonds and accelerate their setting, 1-3% more of agent can be added to adhesives.

STORAGE AND USE

DESCURING adhesives are flammable liquids and must be kept away from any spark producing equipment. In general DESCURING adhesives should always be used up as quickly as possible. Laboratory tests and practical experience have shown that, when kept in a cool, dry place(15°C to 25°C), DESCURING adhesives keep for at least six months after being dispatched. During this time the products undergo no changes prejudicial to the use in the preparation of adhesives. Under normal working conditions DESCURING adhesives are substantially harmless materials.
